BBC and Pornhub: Are they becoming synonymous?

‘War and Peace’ by Leo Tolstoy is one of the greatest book of all time, a masterpiece which has become a prime masturbatory material for thousands after BBC ‘sexed up’ the classic through dramatization of the book.
With the screening of the drama earlier this year, BBC and pornographic website Pornhub became a lot closer by their contents as a number of sex scenes form the drama made their way to Porbnhub and they’ve since racked up several thousands of views in pornhub. Besides, the clips managed Natasha Rostova and Helene Kuragin some special attention from Pornhubbers.
Once upon a time people used to go through Pornsites to have a good time in their bedroom but the scenario has seemed to be changed a lot where Russian literature has taken the place instead for a quick climax.
Among all the bad news floating around for Tolstoy there could be one relief for him by knowing that he’s not the only one indirectly providing ‘posh porn’. Game of thrones, The Night Manager and new BBC Drama Versailles are also providing the pleasure of some real posh porn along with a bit of historical self pleasure and making their way to Pornhub as well.
Fiona Vera-Gray, of the Centre for Gender Equal Media at Durham University, termed it as part of a vicious cycle and added, “TV shows are becoming more sexualised because people are watching so much porn, they’re trying to keep up. So the mainstreaming of porn is influencing what’s on TV, but then what’s on TV goes back on Pornhub.”
The content gap between an 18+ website and a Sunday night TV drama is decreasing everyday with this normalization of porn. X-rated material in a TV show is no longer a big deal, nothing special to talk about.
Nudity of Versailles, quick and dirty sex of The Night Manager, Versailles or incest of Game of Thrones, Versailles no longer shock us, not as a society. Topless men have now become a prerequisite for a good Sunday night drama, with Poldark, Indian Summers and The Night Manager all leading the way. This interlink with Sex and TV series has become so severe that BBC’s latest attempt at a period drama seems to be nothing more than a string of hard-core sex scenes linked together with a weak plot.
Yes BBC, where snogging with tongues was once considered as risqué is now the role model of over sexualization and the way out is seemingly impossible. Audiences should accept the fact that in 2016, if you want turn your TV post 9 pm you are almost there to be hot and bothered.
Despite of the damaging effects of porn that includes proffering violence against women, addiction, unrealistic expectations of sex and worse, programme makers seem indifferent about the consequences .Porn creators are starting to understand the importance of these goals, with a number of female directors creating successful ‘feminist’, porn aimed at women. But circumstances suggest that about time for channels like HBO and the BBC do the same.
Sources confirm that BBC fighting against Pornhub with copyright laws when they really need to take responsibility for the content they’re creating and start asking whether their sex scenes represent women in a safe way.
Studies show that these simple acts of TV progammes result in consequences which is not so comforting for the broader society. It shows just how much TV can influence its viewers, and how directors have a responsibility to make sure that everything they create sends out the right message – especially sex.
