DOT Desk: Iqbal Hossain Tapos, Jatiya Party mayoral candidate of Barishal City Corporation elections, has accused the ruling Awami League government of making “extensive preparations for stealing votes” in the city polls slated today, reports The Daily Star.
“They [AL government] have taken all-out efforts to steal the votes. Everything remains the same. It seems the 2018 elections will be repeated here. The intelligence organisations are directly working in favour of the AL candidate [Abul Khair Abdullah],” he said while talking with reporters at his main election office yesterday morning.
The mayoral candidate alleged that ruling party lawmaker, municipality mayors and upazila chairmen from different districts are still in the city trying to manipulate the elections.
“We have filed a complaint with the chief election commissioner and the returning officer, but unfortunately, they have not taken any action,” Tapos added.
