Desk Report: Dr Mubashar Hasan, assistant professor at the Department of Political Science and Sociology of North South University, has won the prestigious Early Career Research Award at the 11th Global Studies Conference in Granada, Spain, reports Dhaka Tribune.
The conference, held on Monday and Tuesday, was attended by scholar delegates from over 30 countries, and was jointly organized by the US based Common Ground Research Network (CGRN), and University of Granada in Spain.
“We have assessed several accomplishments of Dr Mubashar Hasan before giving him the honour. This award acknowledges Mubashar’s excellent research and publication record with some of the world’s leading academic publishing houses, as well as his deep commitment to advanced research and knowledge. He is a promising early career researcher who deserves recognition in this prestigious global forum, which is participated by some of the world’s leading thinkers,” said Dr Phillip Kalantzis-Cope, chief social scientist at CGRN.
As part of the recognition, Mubashar was invited to chair four conference sessions at the University of Granada on Monday. Academics from South Africa, France, United States, Russia, Panama, Spain, and India delivered presentations at the sessions. Some of the presenters work at prestigious universities such as Brown University, University of Delhi, and Rhode Island College.
“It was a great honour to represent Bangladesh in this global forum,” said Mubashar, who is currently pursuing a post-doctoral fellowship at the department of culture studies and oriental languages at the University of Oslo in Norway.
