A defamation case have been filed against Asif Nazrul under section-500 and 501 for allegedly posting wrong information on facbook in Madripur court by shipping minister’s nephew and member of the Madaripur District Council, Faruk Khan, yes terday. Earlier, Asif Nazrul posted a status note on Facbook criticizing Shipping minister Shahjahan khan for recent recruitment of shipping crews in Chittagong port. Advocate Golam kibria, a lawyer of Madaripur court told, defendant Nazrul Islam alias Asif Nazrul posted a status on his Facebook account where he wrote 90 out of 92 who were recruited were from Madaripur, the district where the shipping minister is from. “But if he (Shahajahan Khan) wanted, he could recruit all of 92 people from his area. And by recruiting two from different areas, he set an example of honesty and it would be written in golden words,” mockingly Asif wrote. Following that, Faruk Khan filed the case against Asif from defaming the shipping minister. Earlier, the plaintiff applied to court to file a case under section 57 of ICT act. However, as the court didn’t take it in cognizance, a defamation case was filed later. Meanwhile, shipping minister Shajahan Khan said in the parliament that not 92, rather 85 were recruited as sailors in Chittagong port following to the provisions of the jobs and the quota. Of the recruits, 29 were from greater Chittagong region including 23 from Chittagong, four from Cox’s bazar and two from the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The rest were recruited from different districts including Noakhali, Laxmipur, Comilla, Chandpur and Gopalganj.
