Ambiguous signs of a being feminist
Md. Taqi Yasir
The issue of rights for women first became prominent during the French and American revolutions in the late 18th century. In Britain, it was not until the emergence of the suffragist movement in the late 19th century that there was significant political change. A second wave of feminism arose in the 1960s, with an emphasis on unity and sisterhood; seminal figures included Betty Friedan and Germaine Greer.Later on, in the 21st century, these activities took a greater turn and now this concept has three layers of justification. Feminism is all about equality: Members of the movement want men and women to have equal economic, social, and political rights. evertheless, an understanding of what feminism actually is continues to be a mystery to many.Feminism has some misconceptions. These come up with some peculiar issues. Those are:
1. Rights of sons being ignored over daughters.
2. Women must exercise equal rights in every place.
3. You do not see anything wrong with women in the workplace or men in the home. If a woman has a higher income than her husband does, it is a no biggie.
4. If a man decides to stay at home with the children, more power to him.
5. You think women should be in charge of their own bodies. Women should not need to get permissions from their husbands or the government to have medical procedures done or access medication.
6. If you know some of the best hairstylists are men, and a lot of brilliant engineers and technicians are women. In fact, you patronize a lot of them because you want the best.
7. You do not have a problem with boys playing with dolls or liking the color pink. You see no need to put limitations on boys with the goal of making them real men. They are already real, and they will grow into men. Well, unless they decide they would rather be women who are okay with it.
8. You would never stop any of your children from doing what they want because of their gender.
Your daughter can play the drums, take her toys at a distance, and fight her school to play on the boys’ football team until there is a girls’ team.
9. You recognize the benefit of having more women in politics. It would be even better if, when voted in, they actually raised pertinent issues and became women’s rights champions.
