 An Awami League leader was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion with Yaba tablets and illegal firearms in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on Thursday night, reported Sarabangla, New Age.
 The arrested Moniruzzaman is also accused of land grabbing in Mohammandpur and Beribadh area, RAB officials said.
Moniruzzaman claims himself as the vice-president of Adabor Awami League unit. RAB-2 assistant police superintendent Abdullah Al Mamun said that they arrested Moniruzzaman from his PC Culture Housing residence on Thursday night with 400 pieces of Yaba tablets and three licensed and illegal arms.
 RAB filed two cases for possessing narcotics and illegal arms and handed over Moniruzzaman to Adabor police station. Mamun said that Moniruzzaman is accused of land grabbing and using firearms to intimidate people.
 RAB has traced around 30 cases and complaints against Moniruzzaman within 24 hours of his arrest.
Mamun said that Moniruzzaman fled Bangladesh during the anti-casino drive last year and returned during last Eid-ul-Azha.
The Awami League leader and his associates used harassment, threats and intimidation as part of his strategy to grab lands.
In the last few months, he allegedly grabbed a number of plots at Dhaka Uddan in Mohammadpur, said locals.
