Economists are advising to widen the range of government’s social security that, food and medical services can be ensured for everyone. For that, bigger budget for social security is required in upcoming 2017-18 fiscal year.
There 4 cores people under poverty level, 8% are senior-citizens and 10% are impaired, by reports of BBS and WHO. Also, there are many widowed and divorced women. The government currently has 145 social security projects to cover welfare services for such helpless people. But the each year’s budget fis not providing much to such causes. On top of it, after corruption gets the best of the finances, only a little left for the actual people the funding was intended for. DU Prof. MM Akash and CPD Researcher Mostafizur Rahman suggests, to bring the social security services under e-governance and always to keep a published list of people who are in need. Also, a law should be created for the underprivileged, who are in the list for social security services. That allows them to file lawsuit against the authority if they do not receive their services as promised.
