DOT Desk: Publisher of Adarsha Prakashani Md Mahabubur Rahman on yesterday filed a writ in the High Court challenging the validity of the decision of not allocating a stall in the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela 2023, reports Dhaka Trubine.
Later, the petitioner’s lawyer, Barrister Anik R Haque, said: “The hearing on the writ petition may be held next week.”
In the writ petition, it has been requested to issue a rule seeking to know why not allotting a stall to Adarsha Prakashani will not be declared illegal. At the same time, instructions have been sought to allot stall to the publication as soon as possible. Four people, including the director general and president of Bangla Academy, have been made defendants in the writ.
The writ petition states that the participation of the entire publishing house in the fair has been stopped for only one book. But that book is not banned or black listed. Their decision has no validity as per Bangla Academy Act 2013. Their decision is against the freedom of speech given in the constitution.
