Abrar Hussain: At least six people, including a child, have been killed and scores injured in separate road accidents in Gaibandha, Khagrachhari and Lalmonirhat districts.
Two of the accidents occurred yesterday morning while one took place Thursday night, reported The Daily Star. In Gaibandha, two people, including a child, were killed and 15 others injured when a bus overturned after it collided with a roadside tree in Sadullapur upazila yesterday morning. The deceased were identified as the bus helper Saiful Islam, 35 and a ten-year old child Chandni Akhter. The injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
In Khagrachhari, a 28 year-old betel leaf seller died on the spot after a bus carrying 45 Chittagong University (CU) students overturned at Alutila Camp area at around 11am yesterday. Hafiz Uddin was riding on the roof of the bus when the accident took place. At least 25 CU students also got injured and four among them were sent to Chittagong Sadar Hospital for treatment.The driver and helper of the bus managed to flee the spot, alleged law enforcers. In Lalmonirhat, three people died after a speeding truck hit a rickshaw in front of the BGB Canteen on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway in Lalmonirhat district at 9:30pm Thusday. The deceased were identified as rickshaw puller Dulal Mian, 30, Jahangir Alam, 40, and Motaleb Hossain, 40.
