6 Demands of BMA, Including Workplace Security

In the eye of the constitution, every citizen is equal. Everyone has the rights of workplace security equivalent to the risk of their work. Doctors with one of most risky study of medical science. Therefore Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) General Secretary Dr. Ehteshamul Haque presented 6 demands including workplace security regarding similar issues, from the government. At a press-conference at Press Club’s VIP lounge, yesterday.

Dr. Ehteshamul mentioned about the unfortunate event of Central Hospital and how the doctors was humiliated for the death of patient. He said, medical science is a developing & risky science. There will always be accidents. But, doctors are being attacked and humiliated at their own workplaces. The state is bound to provide them of workplace security from such unwanted events.  BMA’s demands included issues such as, making special judicial cells to identify and rapid judgement of the radicals related to Central Hospital attack, pass suitable laws to protect doctors and simplify administrative processes.  On 18 May, a DU female-student died while medicalized at Central Hospital. Later, several DU students vandalized the hospital place inside out and beat-up the doctors there.
