DOT Desk: The incident occurred yesterday morning at Zinjira in South Keraniganj, reports TBS.
The clash ensued when members of the ruling Awami League began throwing bricks at a public gathering, causing injuries to 16 BNP supporters, said Mozadded Ali Babu, general secretary of Keraniganj police station unit of BNP. Nipun Roy has been taken to a private hospital for treatment, he added.A BNP rally was scheduled to take place today at 11:00am in front of the Jinjira BNP office.
In order to join the rally, a procession organised by Jubo Dal was moving from the Jinjira Chatgaon area towards the rally venue. However, tension escalated between the leaders and activists of both sides when the procession reached the Awami League office of Dakshin Keraniganj Thana.
