Banglanews24: Bangladesh is set to import 340MW more electricity from India through the Surjomoni-Comilla north link under government to government (G2G) contract. Secretary of power ministry Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus said it to reporters after the 15th meeting of Bangladesh-India power assistance related joint steering committee at a hotel in Sylhet on Tuesday (Sep 25).
He said Bangladesh is currently importing 160MW power from India through the through the Surjomoni-Comilla north link. Earlier on Sep 24, Bangladesh-India joint working group’s 15th meeting on power assistance was held. Indian power secretary Ajay Kumar led his country’s side in the meeting.
During the meeting, Bangladesh sought exemption from all kinds of CD, tax and VAT while importing electricity from India.
