256 students of 19 departments of Chittagong University (CU) have been selected for ‘National Science and Technology Fellowship’. They will be given special research grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology in the financial year 2023-24. Chittagong University Research and Higher Study Society (CURHS), the university’s research and higher education body, released the information yesterday.
It is one of the most prestigious research grants of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh. These grants are awarded to MS, MPhil, PhD and post-doctoral level students/researchers studying and researching in public universities and research institutes. These fellowships are awarded in total of 3 groups – (1) Physical, Biological and Inorganic Sciences, Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Renewable Energy Sciences, Information and Communication Technology, Nanotechnology, Applied Technologies (2) Biological and Medical Sciences and (3) Food and Agricultural Sciences. 54000/- will be allocated for research. It will play an important role in motivating students to research and sustainable development. It should be noted that as always, maximum 32 people have been nominated from the chemistry department this year. In the last fiscal year, 215 students from 18 departments of Chittagong University received this fellowship.
