I am currently studying at university and I am doing the following types of jobs: Cleaning the tables, Mopping on the floors, Serving food, Washing the dishes almost everyday to earn some pocket money to support myself instead of asking it from my parents.
Moreover I am proud of myself for whatever I am doing.
Odd Jobs!! This is not accepted in Bangladesh.
It is literally a Taboo in Bangladesh. People do not accept it and for people only those can be respected who are employed in known organizations or places.
If you are studying abroad, staying or working and doing odd jobs like cleaning tables in McDonalds or subways, dish-washing in a restaurant, babysitting or into any odd jobs which is pretty much okay. But in Bangladesh, if you are into something like this you are like “KAMLA”. Even some people say, “Goriber Bacca” 🙂
For our society, unemployment is okay after graduation but doing odd jobs….. A big NO NO NO!! Because it hurts their ego with their so-called class and soceity.
Though every job should have equal rights with equal respects. We should change our thoughts, judgements, perceptions, mentalities and egos.
Otherwise we will be in the same place as now. We can never shine and succeed. Happy International Labour Day, as we all are labouring somewhere.
