In an interview, Professor Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque; educationist, researcher and political commentator remarked that the ongoing problems, crisis and discussion regarding the Sixteenth Amendment verdict is turning out to be very unfavorable for the nation. It has been consistently continuing to weaken the judicial system. “We saw that Bangabandhu’s trial was proceeding slowly for a very long period of time, one after another judge failed to prosecute the trial and the ministers of that time protested against the slow trial with stick procession. The judges were also threatened. But was this normal? It is obvious that there was something unusual going on between the Government and the judicial system. It cannot be said that the people had confidence on the judiciary because many objectionable things had occurred” – he commented. He further added that it cannot be said that the trial proceeding of the war criminals are going at a normal rate after the pressure that Ganajagaran Mancha created for the execution. Even after the execution of the war criminals, many ordinary people such as Ganajagaran Mancha activist, online activist, blogger, writer, publisher have been killed. More people have been murdered based on this trail than the number of war criminals who received death sentence.
