 The government has taken initiative to renovate 6,754 old irrigation infrastructures of various types. As a result, it is expected to get additional crop of about 3 lakh 46 thousand metric tons.According to the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA), the project will continue to irrigate 40,640 hectares of land throughout the year, reports BanglaNews24.
According to the relevant sources, the project at a cost of Tk 330 crore will be implemented from the current time in June 2025. The project proposal has already been sent to the Planning Commission, reports Daily Bangladesh.Under this project, 1,357 old deep tube wells will be renovated, 2,409 old pump houses will be reconstructed, 2,096 old pump houses will be repaired and 200 automatic ground water stations will be set up. Besides, 300 power lines will be repaired.
