Rafiqul Amin, managing director (MD) of the much talked about Destiny-2000 Limited, used to hold meetings through zoom apps from jail. He used to hold meetings with the shareholders through these apps as well as used to do launching of new companies. On July 1, the media report titled ‘Destiny’s Rafiqul had a zoom meeting in jail’, which caused a commotion across the country, reports Dainik Amader Somoy.
After that a committee was formed to investigate this incident. The committee also found evidence in this regard during the investigation. Rafiqul Amin himself has admitted it. The investigation committee formed by the Department of Prisons submitted a 36-page investigation report on July 10. It has been mentioned that Destiny MD Rafiqul Amin sat in the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital and spoke for about 5 hours in a five-day zoom meeting.
The investigation report has brought charges against him for violating the jail rules.
Meanwhile, the committee has made 19 recommendations in the investigation report so that such illegal acts do not happen again in the future. These include the temporary expulsion of 12 prison guards for negligence and failure to perform their duties properly as well as taking departmental action against them; strict warning to one jailer and four deputy jailers; establishment of 200-bed hospital at Kashimpur for better treatment of sick prisoners.
The jail authorities initially took legal action against 18 prison guards.
