 4 women footballers of Rangpur Sadar Upazila have been nominated to go to Portugal, a European country. Besides, a young footballer from Pirganj football academy of the district is also going to Brazil, the country of Pele-Neymar. The Bangladesh Sports Directorate has taken initiative to send all of them to European-American countries for advanced training, reports Dhaka Post.
 The final list of nominees for the boys and girls divisions was released on Monday (April 4). The footballers of Rangpur have topped that list. 11 boys and 11 girls footballers (under-17) have been nominated in two teams for training. The published list includes Nasreen Akhter, Maurashi Akhter, Shammi Akhter and Rekha Akhter. All of them are footballers of Sadyapuskurini Youth Sporting Club of Palichara village of Sadar upazila.
Besides, in the boys’ (under-18) team there is a talented footballer Leon Pradhan of Pirganj Football Academy.
 State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Hassan Russell, who is currently in charge of the ministry, said that for the first time in 2019, four boys players were sent to Brazil for advanced training. This year boys as well as girls will be sent. However, this time not only 4 people, but a team of 11 people for boys and girls will be sent one by one.
