The building was constructed before the National Building Code i.e. BNBC-2006. ‘We are talking about those who have done building before, garments have also been done long ago. [5]The fire that broke out at a commercial building in Dhaka city’s Banani neighbourhood yesterday morning was brought under control after four hours in the afternoon.
[6]The fire originated on the second floor of the six-storey building in the Chairmanbari area at around 9:10am, said Md Bazlur Rashid, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, reports Daily Star.
[7]With ten firefighting units working at the spot, the blaze was brought under control at around 1:15pm.
[8]Fire Service and Civil Defence Director (Operations) Zillur Rahman said: “We will be able to fully put it out within about two and a half hours.”
[9]The damages incurred could not be known immediately. Fire service suspected none was trapped inside, as they did not receive any missing complaints yet, said Zillur, adding that his agency will be able to find out the cause of the fire after an investigation.
