[2] Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods, arms and ammunition and narcotics worth Tk 62.11 crore, report Somoy TV, Dhaka Times.[3] The seizures were made after conducting drives at different parts of the country including the borders in June.
According to the BGB, 336 smugglers were detained during the drives.[4] Besides, necessary legal action was taken against 245 Bangladeshi nationals and four Indian nationals for crossing the borders illegally.
[5] According to a media release issued by the BGB, the seized items include 10 lakh pieces of yaba pills, 11,529 bottles of Phensedyl, 12,201 bottles of foreign liquor, 1932 cans of bear, 1534 kg of cannabis, 10.351 kg heroin, 8798 stimulating injections and others.
[6] Besides, three pistols, one revolver, one gun, four magazines, 1kg gunpowder and 16 rounds of bullets were seized during the drives.
