[2]The High Court has rejected a writ petition filed by BNP leader Abul Khair Bhuiyan seeking postponement of Laxmipur-2 by-election. As a result, there is no obstacle for voting in the by-election of Laxmipur-2 constituency on June 21, said lawyer Barrister HM Sanjid Siddiqui. He confirmed the matter to Jago News.
[3]The hearing of the writ was yesterday in High Court Justice. A virtual bench comprising Justice Mujibur Rahman Mia and Justice Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order.
[4]Earlier on June 8, the hearing of the writ petition seeking postponement of the by-election of Laxmipur-2 constituency was scheduled for yesterday, reports Jugantor.
[5]BNP’s Abul Khair Bhuiyan filed a writ petition seeking postponement of Laxmipur-2 by-election. Meanwhile, on June 8, a Kuwaiti court convicted Kazi Shahid Islam Papul of Laxmipur-2 constituency on charges of human and money laundering and dismissed the writ petition challenging the validity of declaring the seat vacant.
[6]Kazi Shahid Islam Papul, an independent MP from Laxmipur-2 constituency, had his membership canceled. The Parliament Secretariat issued a notification in this regard, reports Bangladesh Journal.
