DOT Desk :  As many as 43 chairman candidates from ruling Awami League have been elected uncontested in the union parishad polls set to be held on today, Business Post.
 Of the aspirants, 38 have been elected in Bagerhat, four in Chattogram’s Sandwip, and one in Khulna. Earlier, the Election Commission set September 20 (Monday) for holding elections to 160 union parishads in six districts, which were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
 The polls will be held in 34 unions in Khulna, 66 in Bagerhat, 21 in Satkhira, 13 in Noakhali, 12 in Chattogram, and 14 unions in Cox’s Bazar.
 The chairman candidates have been vying in the union parishad polls with partisan election symbols since 2016. Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
