There has been a renewed interest among the Rohingyas for moving to Bhasan Char as the United Nations has become involved with the initiative, report Sangabad, Bangla Tribune. The Rohingyas believe that they will be able to get all the facilities in the Bhasan Char which were available in the camps of Ukhiya and Teknaf.
Many are of the opinion that the UN should put in more efforts to repatriate the Rohingyas than sending them to Bhasan Char. Karim Mustafa of Kutupalong Camp-1 of Ukhiya said that they were happy as the UN got involved with the initiative of relocating the Rohingyas to Bhasan Char. “There was a fear among the Rohingyas regarding flood and tidal surge in the islet. However, we have talked to the people who went there.
They said that there are no such problems,” said he.
