IGP AKM Shahidul Haq announced that more than 1 lakh 80 thousand law enforcement members will be active on field during the upcoming Union Parishad election. He announced these during a press conference held on Sunday.

IGP said, “The police won’t be on duty to help a certain political party whereas we will be there to maintain the law and order during the election. Among the 1 lakh 80 thousand law enforcement members 40 thousand of them are police, 9 thousand RAB, 9 thousand BGB and more than 1 lakh Ansar members will be present.

He also said, “The police will be working to maintain a situation where voters can freely come the voting centers and vote and also to maintain the pre and post election period. If any candidate is accused of causing problems then his candidacy will be canceled.

The police head said that 208 incidents of pre-election disorder occurred till yesterday. And the police received 143 cases and 55 GDs.

He also said, “55 are arrested in these pre-election occurrences”
