KUET students invent drone which can travel upto 10 km carrying 200 vaccines

 The drone will reach a destination 10 km away with 200 vaccine vials (bottles) weighing 50 grams. The vaccine should be loaded and unloaded safely and automatically without human contact inside the drone, reports Bangla-news24.
 Khulna University of Engineering and Technology Mechanical Engineering Department’s second year 4-member team ‘Akutobhay’ has designed a modern drone by solving these challenges. On April 15-16, they won second place in the Aer-O-Vacx category in one of the segments of Cognizance 21, one of the largest techfests in South Asia, organized by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India.
 Engineering design report was supposed to be submitted in 1st round. On the basis of this, 22 teams were selected from the contestants from home and abroad for the 2nd round. In the 2nd round, the complete design details have to be presented to the judges online. The results were announced based on the skills of the 1st and 2nd rounds.
 Associate Professor Dr. Md. Helal Al Nahyan said that it is a great pleasure for our students to get international awards for designing drones. If they get patronage then it will be possible to make this drone and use it for the welfare of the people. The drone will be used to deliver the corona vaccine safely to remote areas.
 Niloy Nath, son of Chittagong, said that the international competition was basically a design contest, where some challenges were given. We were commissioned to design a drone that could deliver the Covid-19 vaccine to remote areas. Since drones have to cover much longer distances in less time, they have to weigh much less and have a stronger structure. For this we use carbon fiber in drone design. Its weight is very low and its structure is very strong.
