Neighbors have allegedly attacked a housewife in Ullapara, Sirajganj, in protest of drug use. The housewife, Parul Rani Bhowmik, 48, was admitted to Sirajganj Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital with serious injuries. The incident took place at Purbadelua village of the upazila on Thursday (September 23) evening, reports KalerKantho.
Assailants also beat up Parul’s speech-impaired son Ripon Kumar (22). Parul Rani Bhowmik is the wife of the late Mangala Bhowmik of that village. According to the police, Parul’s neighbor Gautam was always intoxicated. He often tortured neighbors over small beds. On Thursday evening, Gautam and his accomplices, including Sudeb, Bablu and Shyam from the same village, came to Parul Rani’s house and attacked her. At that time, his son Ripon Kumar came forward and Gautam also attacked him. Ripon, a speech-impaired boy, hugged his bloody mother and cried when the attackers left.
