 More than one hundred villages under nine upazilas of Cox’s Bazar have been submerged due to heavy rains and tidal surges, report risingbd.com, Jago News, Daily Bangladesh.
The Met office recorded 117 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
The heavy rains were accompanied by gusty winds.
 Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Parvez Chowdhury said that at least 700 people have been marooned in several villages.
“The damage will be assessed after the water recedes. A list will be prepared and government monetary assistance will be distributed among the affected people,” said the UNO.
 Meanwhile, 5 Rohingyas were killed and five/six others injured in landslides at a camp of the refugees in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar district yesterday morning.
 The incident took place at Balukhali Camp around 10am, said additional refugee relief and repatriation commissioner Shamsuzzoha Nayan but he immediately could not confirm the identities of the deceased.
Meanwhile, a teenage girl was killed in another incident of landslide in North Sipahipara of Maheshkhali upazila.
Morsheda Akter, 14, was the daughter of local Ansar Hossain, confirmed Maheshkhali Union Parishad chairman Ziad Bin Ali.
