Four to five youths of Huzurkandi were beaten by the people of the weddingwhile taking pictures. At least 15 people have been injured in clashes and shootings between two villages over taking pictures at a wedding in Comilla’s Homna upazila. The clash took place at Bara Gharmora Bazar in the upazila yesterday morning, reports Dhaka Tribune.
The situation in Gharmora and Huzurkandi villages of the upazila is tense due to this incident. Mohammad Shahjahan Mollah, chairman of Gharmora Union, said some young people from the neighboring Huzurkandi village took pictures on their mobile phones while attending a wedding in Bagakanda village in Gharmora on Thursday night.
On the same night, four or five young men from Huzurkandi were beaten by the people of the wedding for taking this picture. The next morning, an old man from Bagakanda village in Gharmora went to Huzurkandi to sell milk and was beaten by some youths. Jahangir Alam of Gharmora village filed a case against 15 people of Huzurkandi village.
In this connection, the police arrested a man named Bakul from Huzurkandi village. From then on, tensions started spreading among the villagers of Gharmora and Huzurkandi. Villagers of Bagakanda and Huzurkandi in Gharmora of Homna clashed on Sunday morning over the issue of retaliatory beatings. The villagers of Gharmora claimed that the people of Huzurkandi village opened fire on them during the clash. More than one person from their village was injured in the shooting, reports BanglaNews24.
