Tensions are running high between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) over the BSF obstructing the construction of a mosque in the Gajukata border area of Beanibazar, reports Bangla Tribune.
It has been alleged that the BSF has set up a bunker in No-Man’s Land in the border area. BGB has stepped up surveillance in the border areas of Bangladesh since yesterday morning.
BGB-52 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Shah Alam Siddiqui said, “The Indian forces had entered by building a bunker within 150 yards of the zero line. They have acted in violation of border laws. We have written to them,” reports beanibazarnews24.com.
He said they (BSF) had obstructed the reconstruction of the 200-year-old mosque in violation of border laws. In this incident, BGB has increased surveillance in all the areas including Gajukata border.
However, Additional Superintendent of Police of Sylhet District Police Lutfar Rahman (media) said that no incident of BGB-BSF was known in the border area of Beanibazar.
