In the last two years, 2,200 criminals have been arrested from the Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on charges of involvement in drug trafficking and various crimes, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, reports RTvonline. He made the remarks after a law and order meeting on the occasion of National Mourning Day at the Secretariat held yesterday (August 1).
Benazir Ahmed said “police is also conducting joint patrols outside the Rohingya camp with members of other law enforcement agencies. In future, the headquarters of the Armed Police Battalions will be shifted to Teknaf and Ukhia”.
“We have reorganized 34 Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar into clusters,” he said. The responsibility of each cluster has been given to each APBN camp. Now the security of Rohingya camps is being provided through 22 APBN camps.
