 Yesterday Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of ‘Naval Safety Week-2021’ online as the chief guest. He said, ‘the importance of shipping in riverine and coastal Bangladesh is immense, reports Daily Inqilab.  The Minister said the importance of celebrating Naval Safety Week in Bangladesh is immense. Waterways are more affordable and environmentally friendly than other modes of transport.
 Asaduzzaman said, ‘ensuring digital design of ships through software, ensuring shipbuilding with modern equipment and trained manpower at post yards, ensuring safe movement of large vessels through hydraulic steering. That’s why I think the waterway is more active than before ‘, reports daily–bangladesh. com.
 He said, an online digital database containing all the information of the ship’s sailors is being stored.
The Home Minister called upon the owners of government as well as non-government organizations and workers’ organizations to come forward to ensure shipping.
 State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Rafiqul Islam (Bir Uttam) and Shipping Secretary Mohammad Mesbah Uddin Chowdhury were present on the occasion.
