Country incurred more than $20 million loss due to the Corona pandemic, says Health Minister

 Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malik added that poor people are getting poorer. He said the situation could be tackled only because the Prime Minister’s 18 health rules and other rules have been followed. BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Dr. Sharfuddin Ahmed said this while participating in the World Health Day celebrations at the Zoom meeting held at Milon Hallroom.  The Minister said that many developed countries of the world have not been vaccinated, but our Prime Minister has ensured vaccination of the people to save the lives of the people of the country.  “We have no shortage of vaccines. We are not trying medical services. Meanwhile, the Mohakhali Isolation Center at Uttar City Corporation is being converted into a 900-bed hospital with a 200-bed ICU. We are constantly working under the direction of the Prime Minister. The minister said every district hospital has been equipped with oxygen facilities”, he added. He requested the people in their respective districts to seek medical treatment.
At the same time, he added, the hospitals in Dhaka are full of corona patients.
 Addressing the doctors, he also asked the doctors to ensure that the treatment of patients suffering from heart, kidney and cancer diseases are not affected. The minister said that before taking the vaccine, the vaccine should be tested on the advice of a doctor. The BSMMU vice-chancellor said 10 additional beds have been connected to the university, including 20 more ICU beds. At this time, among others, country director of the World Health Organization in Bangladesh, Sange Wangmo, Secretary of Medical Education Department Md. Ali Noor, Secretary of Health Department Md. Lokman Hossain Mia and others spoke at the event.
