Border killings, smuggling on the agenda for India-Bangladesh home secretary-level meeting

DOT Desk: [2] Border killings and smuggling are going to be at the top of the agenda for a home secretary-level meeting between India and Bangladesh expected to be held on February 27, reports Dhaka Tribune.
[3] The meeting is set to be held a month before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Dhaka from March 26-27.
[4] Bangladesh Home Secretary Mostafa Kamal Uddin and his Indian counterpart Ajay Kumar Bhalla will lead the respective countries in the meeting. [5] According to officials of Home Ministry, the last home secretary-level meeting between the two countries was held in 2016.
[6] Counterfeit currency, illegal fishing on Bangladeshi waters and visa issues will also be discussed at the meeting, sources said.
[7] The upcoming meeting will be held virtually. The inspector general of police and director generals of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Coast Guard and the Narcotics Department will participate along with the home secretary.
