Capitalism presupposes an infinite expansion of production; A capitalistic economy must expand to survive and find new markets to support this expansion but we have finite resources on earth. Capitalism is in crisis hence emerged the theories of sustainable capitalism . Sustainable capitalism seeks to replenish the resources as we are told but the truth is it aims to increase the productions through exploitation , colonial context and neoliberal policies in order for capitalism to survive under the veil of sustainability . Sustainability means that we reduce our material consumption by a very greater extent and not surprisingly this is not possible as material consumption drives the wheel of capitalism . Without diminishing the material consumption in the wealthy nations , it is only possible to maintain such dramatic consumptions by exploiting the resources of the developing or underdeveloped countries. In Angola’s case , the country’s primary resource is oil and the nations that are deriving advantage of it are Western oil companies and consumers of the Global North . The Angolans live in poverty and consumes very few resources . The relation of many under-developed or developing countries are directly interrelated with the material consumption of the wealthy nations under capitalism . As Marx points out ” The further the separate spheres , which interact with on one another , extend in the course of this development , the more original isolation of the separate nationalities is destroyed by the developed mode of production and intercourse and division of labour between various nations naturally brought forth by these , the more history becomes world history” . In Modi’s India the recent farms laws are part of the same global agenda , the takeover of the corporates and the exploitation of the farmers.
The laws are a direct result of several year’s effort of World Economic Forum to push a corporate model in Africa , Latin America and Asia . “Sustainable agriculture” targets tp to break down the traditional farming and food system in India . It will be sustainable not for the small farmers but rather the giant agribusiness groups. The Adani group of Gautum Adani , the second richest man in India and major financier of Modi’s BJP Party is part of a huge corporate group called the NVA India Business Council created by WEF and Mukesh Ambani another top richest man in India sits on the board of directors of Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum . Under the title of sustainable agriculture these new farm laws ends restrictions on large corporations buying land . Sustainable capitalism is a tool for globalization , urbanization and modernization of the under developed countries for the expansion of capitalism and to cover for the massive material consumption of the Imperialist nations .
