 Sylhet mayor Ariful Haque Choudhury, officials and employees of Sylhet City Corporation among 15 others were attacked during evicting illegal stands of microbuses and private cars yesterday noon in Chauhatta area of Sylhet city, reports thsnews.net. When police stopped them, the transport workers attacked them. Police brought the situation under control after half an hour. At least 50 vehicles were vandalized at the time. One has been arrested over the case.  Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Jyotirmoy Sarkar said the police brought the situation under control by firing 16 rounds of blank shots. The protesters removed the barricade after a discussion between police and the workers, Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Dakshin Surma Police Station confirmed the development, reports The Daily Star.
 Transport workers blocked Dhaka-Sylhet highway at 2:15pm at Humayun Rashid Chattar in Chowhatta area yesterday after repeated clashes with SCC staffers and police, centering the eviction drive of an illegal microbus stand built by occupying footpath and road at Amberkhana-Chowhatta area in the city.
 Meanwhile transport workers locked into clashes with SCC staffers and police during the eviction drive earlier in the day. Police detained a man with illegal firearms during the incident.
