[2] Dinajpur Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology (Habiprobi) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ali left his residence on Tuesday (January 12) night before the expiration of his term in the face of protests by a section of the BCL. It is also learned that he has left a note appointing Chandra Haldar as the acting vice-chancellor.
[3] University sources said, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abul Kashem has a term of only 17 days. At the end of the term, the university became heated again. A section of the university branch of Chhatra League staged a day-long protest inside the VC’s residence yesterday afternoon demanding various measures including hostile treatment of leaders and activists and introduction of class examinations. Police and civil administration took position at the spot to control the situation.
[4] Later on the same day, at around 6 pm, the BCL leaders and activists started a sit-in program at the door of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence. They declared to remain steadfast until their demands were met. They said that although he did not meet the Vice-Chancellor to discuss various demands, he did not meet him from 11 pm to 6 pm and did not speak.
[5] He further said that the Vice-Chancellor informed me over phone at 8.30 am that he had gone to Dhaka as his wife had fallen ill. “But none of us are sure where he went”, he added.
