 The family members of Shahidunnabi Jewel who was beaten and torched to death on false charges of disrespecting the Quran held a press conference to press home their four-point demand, reports Bangla Tribune.
 The press conference was held at the residence of the deceased yesterday.
 On behalf of the locals, Sazzad Hossain Bappi read out the written statement.
 Besides, the deceased’s elder sister Lipi, wife Jesmine Akhter also spoke at the press briefing.  In the press conference, the family members of the deceased demanded bringing the accused to the book and giving compensation.
According to the case statement, locals beat Jewel, 42, to death and burned his body accusing him of disrespecting the Quran at the mosque.
Jewel’s cousin Saiful Islam filed a case on October 31 over the murder.
The victim had gone to Burimari on October 29. After the Asr prayer at the central mosque, he was accused of disrespecting the Quran and beaten to death before his body was burned.
The incident triggered a widespread outcry in the country.
