 The approval was given at an Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting held at the NEC conference room in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar yesterday morning with Prime Minister and Ecnec Chairperson Sheikh Haisna in the chair, reports The Daily Star.  The meeting approved three projects, including road safety and traffic infrastructure of DNCC area, proposed by Local Government and Rural Cooperatives Ministry at a cost of Tk 5,189.69 crore, reports Daily Bangladesh.  Of the total, Tk 2,855.08 crore will be government funded, Tk 63.85 crore will come from local funds and Tk 2,270.76 crore foreign loans.  Asadul Islam, senior secretary of the Planning Division, disclosed the information after the meeting, saying: “One of the three approved projects is new and two are revised.”  The approved projects are – two projects of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges namely ‘Sonapur (Noakhali)-Sonagazi (Feni)-Jowarganj (Chattogram) Road Development (2nd Amendment)’ project and ‘CSCEC Road Link Project-2: Elenga-Hatikumrul-Rangpur Highway Upgradation to four lanes (1st Amendment)’ project and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives project ‘Road Safety including Development of Traffic Infrastructure in DNCC.
