SBSF’s Initiative to Diminish Oppression
Fahmida Tisha for DOT :  Social Business Students’ Forum (SBSF) is one of the leading student organizations in Bangladesh. Besides practicing the culture of social business, SBSF stand against the social anarchy by spreading awareness and creating student unity. Even in this pandemic situation, SBSF did not stop working for social welfare. SBSF organized a two days “Workshop to Prevent Oppression” to spread awareness among students against the increasing oppression culture in Bangladesh on 13-14 October, 2020.
 On October 13th, the first day of the event started after evening with the welcome remarks of the Convener of SBSF and Director of Yunus Social Business Center Professor Dr. Muhammad Masum Iqbal, PhD, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship. In his speech, he inspired the participants to be one step ahead in eradicating oppression culture totally from our motherland. He showed the hope to a brighter future where the youth will be united to save every women and child from this darkness of oppression.
 After the opening ceremony of this auspicious event the Adviser of SBSF and Associate Head, Department of Business Administration Ms. Khadiza Rahman Tanchi conveyed her powerful speech on “Safety from Oppression Culture” topic. She gave the participants enough courage with her words to raise their voice against this oppression culture. After this the “Open House Discussion” session started where SBSF family decided to give the participants a platform to speak up and share their point of view about oppression culture.
 On the last day of the workshop on October 14th, the event was started at the afternoon where fifteen teams presented their research on cause of oppression and its possible solution. Following to that at after evening the Co-founder of SBSF Mr. Kazi Mesbah Ur Rahman delivered a welcome speech and gave the platform to the guests Mr. Hasan Ali, President, Ageing Support Forum and Masuma Khatun Lipa, Chairman, Zahintex Industries Ltd.
 The guests conducted a session called “Protesting Etiquettes, Motivation and Real-Life Experience Sharing”. It was a life changing experience for the participants because each and every one enjoyed the friendly discussion of the guests. The guests made sure to let the participants know about every possible solution there can be to prevent this highlighted crime, called oppression.
 Mr. Hasan Ali shook up the participants that deep down the increasing culture of oppression had a philosophical clarification which was, the pleasure the criminal would get by doing a crime is greater than the punishment he would get for it. So, he motivated everyone to be better a human being and to stand up and achieve every goals in life.
 While sharing the real life experience with the participants Masuma Khatun Lipa told the participants to be wiser and to be brave in this concrete world. She directly requested the youth to take responsibility for it and to be careful about their own safety. She also advised everyone to respect the values gifted by their parents. She further suggested to start making little efforts for a oppression free brighter future.
 The encouraging and powerful conversation of the speakers with the participants was beyond expectation. They answered every questions asked by the participants and tried to bring the best solution to prevent oppression and lastly encouraged the youth to stand united against oppression culture.
