Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday directed not to set up any industry on cultivable land, reported Kaler Kantho, BSS, Jago News.
The premier issued the directive while speaking at the 10th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year (FY21).
The premier chaired the meeting virtually from her official Ganobhaban residence while concerned ministers, state ministers and secretaries joined the meeting from the NEC Conference Room in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area. Planning Minister MA Mannan briefed the reporters after the meeting. The premier said that industries should not be set up here and there like on the arable land or on the homesteads, rather industries should have to be set up at the dedicated areas or zones for industries.
“If you want to set up mills and factories, then go to the industrial zones. Why should you damage agricultural land by setting up industries? We will give necessary support for setting industries in the dedicated zones,” said the PM.
