The students’ union has said that the students no longer want to see DU BCL president Sanjit Chandra Das on the Dhaka University campus for ‘legitimizing rape and oppression of women’. The organization made the remarks in a press release sent to the media yesterday.
Chhatra Dal leaders have commented that the misdeeds of Chhatra League are increasing due to lack of justice and the incident at Sylhet MC College is proof of that.
They made the remarks at a protest procession and protest rally in front of Dhaka University’s TSC Das at 11am yesterday (September 26).
Chhatra Dal recently organized a rally at MC College in Sylhet to demand exemplary punishment for those involved in the rape of a housewife by BCL activists, gang rape of an indigenous woman in Khagrachhari and rape in Savar.
Mentioning that many leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal were injured in the protest rally against the rape by Chhatra League, the president of Chhatra Dal said, “I demand to arrest them immediately and bring them under the law.” Dhaka University teacher said.
In his speech, Rakibul Islam Rakib, convener of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal, said that a culture of impunity is going on in Bangladesh. No one has been brought to justice in the incident of humiliation of a woman in TSC by Chhatra League leaders and activists. Everyone, including the accused in the murder of Abu Bakr, has been acquitted. For all this, the misdeeds of Chhatra League are increasing day by day.
