 A team from the Rajshahi district office of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) went to Natore yesterday morning and arrested Tofazzal Hossain, 64, chairman of Sadar Upazila’s Chhatni Union Parishad (UP) and Shahnaz Parveen, 35, a member of the reserved women’s seat, reports banglanews24.com.
 Later in the afternoon, Deputy Director of the ACC’s Rajshahi District Office Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter to reporters.  He said a case of embezzlement of five tonnes of government wheat has been filed against them at the ACC’s integrated district office, reports bd-protidin.com.
Meanwhile, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Natore police station made a general diary (GD) after recovering the wheat.
As the matter is a scheduled crime of the ACC, the complaint was sent to the integrated district office of the ACC to take necessary legal action. Nazmul Hussain, assistant director of the ACC’s integrated district office, filed a case against the three on Wednesday. The two accused were then arrested.
They were arrested in the case at noon and sent to the court jail. The ACC also said that it was trying to arrest the other accused in the case.
