Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFC) workers have demanded reinstatement of one festive bonus and increment of yearly salary which was cancelled by the management, recently, reports Dhaka Tribune. The workers protested to press home their demands in front of the BGFC head office at Bisra area in Brahmanbaria yesterday. They chanted slogans against the management of the company. Police later went to the scene and brought the situation under control. During the protest BGFC CBA President Md Shah Alam and General Secretary Md Morshedul said they have been getting two festive bonuses for the last 30 year, but on June 8, one bonus was cancelled at a board meeting of the company.
“Previous agreements made between the board and CBA about three bonuses, including the yearly increment, were also cancelled,” the CBA president said.
The CBA leaders also said according to the guideline of the company, the management cannot make such changes.
The company also added 700 million cubic feet gas to the national grid, and for that they made a huge profit.
This cancellation of bonus was totally unnecessary, they said.
The workers will wait for four days and if the demands are not met by then, they will go for tougher movement.
