Land ports in India and Bangladesh were recently reopened to resume import-export activities closed due to the pandemic. Although goods are being allowed to enter Bangladesh from India, India is not allowing trucks to enter from Bangladesh through most ports, reports Jagonews24.
Dhaka sees the issue as a violation of the agreement between the two countries. However, officials at the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commerce said, Dhaka has already sent a letter to Delhi to normalize trade, reports Daily Inquilab. The Commerce Secretary Md. Zafar Uddin said, “We are aware of the matter. For now, I can only say that diplomatic efforts are being made to remove the barrier to Bangladeshi products entering India. Hopefully, the problem will be solved soon.”
