 Farmers of Char Mazardiar and Harian Union of Haripur Union of Rajshahi Paba Upazila have been cultivating almonds since November 29 last year through the project.
 Earlier, almonds were harvested at the rate of 3 to 4 manats per bigha, but this time the yield was improved at the rate of 8 to 9 manats per bigha due to the availability of improved varieties of seeds through the BMDA project. Compared to last year, this time the farmers have earned Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 per bigha. Paba upazila.
Farmers Shahid Ali, Matiur Rahman, Alam, Ramzan Ali, Abdur Razzak, Sirajul Islam, Gaffar Ali, Shamsuddin, Nazim Uddin of Char Mazardiar of Haripur Union informed the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority.
Through the project they have benefited by cultivating nuts.
 Shariful Haque, Executive Engineer, Rajshahi Region, said that the BMDA project has provided improved varieties of almond seeds to the farmers in the char areas. This time they have benefited by cultivating nuts.

 In particular, various projects have been undertaken for the nutrition security and development of farmers. BMDA has already set up four wells in Char Mazardia. From there they are getting potable drinking water.
 In collaboration with the scientists of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), improved varieties of almond seeds have been supplied to the farmers of Char by purchasing almond seeds from Bandarban and collecting seeds provided by almond scientists in Jamalpur. Now the poor farmers of Char are benefiting economically by producing almonds in Char.
