Police send back ferry carrying 3000 passengers from Paturia Ghat

[2] The police sent back a ferry carrying passengers at Doulatdia jetty, reports Jago News. [3] The police sent back the ferry at 3:00pm yesterday at No. 4 Ferryghat. [4] The ferry headed for Doulatdia from Paturia Ghat. [5] Emergency vehicles and ambulances are ferried through the Doulatdia-Paturia naval route. [6] Defeating all efforts of the authorities, mad rush for home-bound people is seen at the jetty with total disregard for social distancing. [7] Rajbari SP directed the Goalanda Ghat police to take stern action to control the situation.

[8] Ashiqur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Golanda Ghat police station said that the ferry carrying 3000 passengers was sent back.

[9] “Additional police have been deployed at Doulatdia Ghat area to bring the situation under control. From now on, no ferry will be allowed to cross. The police are also patrolling so that none can cross Padma River on trawlers risking their lives,” the OC said.
