Bangladesh reports highest 1,202 coronavirus cases
DOT Desk:  Bangladesh reported 15 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till today, taking the death toll in the country to 298. Besides, the confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country have jumped to 20,065 with record 1,202 more during the period. This is the highest daily surge of coronavirus cases in the country since the first three cases were reported on March 8. On May 13, highest 1,162 cases and record 19 deaths were reported in the country, reports Somoy TV News.
 Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the disclosure in the daily online health bulletin at the Management Information System (MIS) in the afternoon. She said 512 more patients recovered from Covid-19 disease in the last 48 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 3,882. Prof Nasima said record 8,582 samples were tested in 41 labs across the country in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 160,512 tested in the country. Yesterday, Bangladesh reported 11 deaths from coronavirus and 1,041 cases.
 Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has crossed 3 lakh to 303,351 as of today morning. It has so far infected 4,525,103 people globally, according to Worldometer. Of the currently infected 2,518,010 patients, 2,472,450 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, while 45,560 or 2 percent are in serious condition.
So far, 1,703,742 people have recovered from COVID-19. The US is the hardest-hit with the highest number of infections and deaths at 1,457,593 and 86,912 respectively. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11. The coronavirus is affecting 212 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
