Coronavirus outbreak has been impacting the economy, trade and businesses of the country. Everyone is being forced to stay home to prevent spread of Corona virus.
In this situation, the microcredit regulatory authority (MRA) has decided to help small borrowers. MRA said that small entrepreneurs, who are operating business in the country taking loans from NGOs or micro-credit institutions, will not be declared loan defaulter until June next.
On March 22, MRA sent a notification in this regard to the chief executive officers of all micro credit institutions. Nevertheless, micro-borrowers were being forced to pay installments in some areas of the country by way of misinterpreting the notification.
Then MRA issued another notification on Wednesday (March 25th) to clarify the matter. It said that at this critical time, the micro-credit institution cannot compel the borrowers to pay the installments of loan repayment.
This notification has also been sent to the CEO of all certified micro credit institutions.
