DOT Desk:  A man accused in 9 cases was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Shalda village of Haripur union under Sadar upazila in Khustia on yesterday morning, reports The Daily Sun.
 The deceased was identified as Parvez Khan, 30, son of Yusuf Ali Khan, hailing from Rajarhat area of the upazila.Police claimed that three police members were also injured in the gunfight.  Confirming the news, Golam Mostofa, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police Station, said tip-off, a team of law enforcers conducted a drive in the area and arrested Parvez on Tuesday evening.  Later, police along with Parvez, went to the area to recover arms. But, sensing the presence of the members of police, Parvez associates opened fire on the police men, forcing them to take action in self-defence, he said.
 After the gunfight, the police men recovered the bullet-hit body of Parvez and taken to Kushtia General Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead, he added. Police also recovered a foreign pistol, magazine and three rounds of bullets from the spot, the OC said, adding that the body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
