Before I went to Bangladesh, I was advised not to bring any Pakistani currency and not to mention that my husband is Pakistani or that I live in PAK. I was confused why.
When I spoke to locals in Bangladesh, that’s when I learnt about the partition of east and west Pakistan (East Pakistan which is now known as Bangladesh) & so the tense relationship between Bangladesh & Pakistan (and why there were no direct flights).
See, living in Pakistan, Pakistan describes the partition of the East & West as one of their armies biggest failures.
But when visiting Bangladesh, they described it as horrific event where people were brutalised and there is so much sorrow and loss and grief that I can still see this in the people who have relatives who witnessed this & are alive today.
Bangladesh holds a piece of my heart, after my experience & adventures in Cox Bazar and in Dhaka, and I pray I can return to Bangladesh once more where I can properly enjoy the country.
